These two singles were a fun experiment for me. I wanted to conceptualize, record, and release each track in the same day. It was a way to practice finishing, not overthinking, and still giving the music everything I had.
“Perfectionist” is a reminder to me that perfectionism can be a tool, not a trap. I do not think of myself as a perfectionist, but I like being able to turn that mode on and off.
When I am building a track, I try to be extremely detailed. At a certain point, I also have to let it go and release it.
Sonically, everything you hear is guitar-based. No keyboards were used, all the parts were recorded using guitar and guitar synthesizer.
“Tides” was made with the same one day idea. It is another quick-release experiment, but with a different mood and texture.
You will hear nylon string guitars at the beginning, and then about halfway those same elements but different. I sampled my nylon string guitar and used it in the low end and in other layers to add a second character to final half of the track.
